July 24. Docent Art Talk - Abstract Art
[Thursday 7:00 - 8:00 PM]
Each month a museum docent takes the public on an exploration of the art on view by comparing and contrasting works, focusing on specific media and more. July’s focus is on abstract art works in the exhibitions. Each docent presents a different and individualized approach to help give new insight into the artwork and the artists in the galleries.
Program is free with museum admission

July 31. Film: "THE COOL SCHOOL"

"THE COOL SCHOOL" tells the story of Los Angeles’ legendary Ferus Gallery and the birth of the West Coast modern art scene.

August 3. Gallery Talk with Michael Van Hout
[Sunday 2:00 - 3:00 PM]
Through this informal gallery tour and discussion metal artist Michael Van Hout gives his perspective of works currently on view.

August 10. 2nd Annual Sarus Dance Festival: Alban Elved Dance
[Sunday 4:30 - 6:00 PM]
Works by various choreographers and dance companies are presented at this large scale site specific dance installation that takes place on the grounds and inside the Cameron Art Museum. Q&A session follows final performance.

Program admission is by donation.

Illustrated Lecture: "The Sarus Cranes of India"
[Sunday 3:00 - 4:00 PM]
Sara Gavney Moore, Education Specialist/Program Assistant with the International Crane Foundation, gives a lecture and discussion on the endangered Sarus Cranes. The Sarus Crane (grus antigone) is the largest flying bird, standing up to six feet tall and weighing 18 pounds or more and with a wingspan of 10 feet--the inspiration for the name of the Sarus Dance Festival. Held in conjunction with the 2nd Annual Sarus Dance Festival.

An evening of dance short films by various professional international dance makers exploring Dance for Camera a delightful genre of cinematography. These films are amazing, thrilling, and inspiring. Held in conjunction with the 2nd Annual Sarus Dance Festival.

August 17. Discussion: Survivors of the Holocaust
[Sunday 2:00 - 3:30 PM]
Holocaust survivors and Wilmington area residents Bronia Merlin and Alfred Schnog recount their experiences in a discussion led by Rabbi Harley Karz-Wagman, Temple of Israel. Held in conjunction with the exhibition "Art and Social Conscience: HOLOCAUST".
