Students meet Saturday on Pancoe Patio to photograph a unique large format printmaking process. (see above workshop description). Images are carved into up to 4x8' sheets of wood, inked and printed with a garden sodroller. Learn to capture the spirit of the event through crowds, individuals, and activities. On the second day, students meet for a group critique of the images. Participants may donate the images to CAM for use in promotional and educational materials. Credit will be given to photographers whenever possible.

Participants in this workshop learn basic High Dynamic Range photography and the use of multiple images to create stunning portraits at night. HDR photography is the use of several images at different exposures, combined in a computer to create photographs with a longer tonal range that is possible with a single image. The resulting photograph captures a tonal range nearing that of the human eye. Panoramic portraiture, the Brenizer Effect, is the use of multiple images and wide-open aperture. This technique creates beautiful wide-angle images with the subject in sharp focus surrounded by the soft focus only possible with longer a lens. On Saturday, bring a DSLR and a sturdy tripod. Include an assortment of lenses from wide to short telephoto. Use of a remote triggering device is recommended, but not required. Sunday is spent working on your own computer. Participants should have a working knowledge of their post-production software. Any software that is capable of stitching together panoramic photographs will suffice. For HDR, make sure that your software is capable of merging images to HDR. A specialty software, Photomatix, is available for free download at: http://www.hdrsoft.com/download.html. As an entry level to glass-working, this workshop covers the basics of glass art through bead making. Using a simple propane torch students create colorful and intricate beads. These beads can be used in jewelry making, or other art forms, to produce one of a kind creations. The type of glass that we use is called Morano glass or 104 ceo and is available at Hobby Lobby or online. This is the best course for the beginner who is interested in keeping cost low and accessibility simple. Glasswork combines the heat and thrill of metalsmithing, immediacy of painting, the delicacy of jewelry and the sculptural of ceramics, making this course a good fit for anyone.

If you like to draw on paper, why not draw with your sewing machine? Students bring their own sewing machine and work with free motion embroidery, exploring patterns, painting and drawing with thread. Our samples include cotton, canvas, silk, silk paper, felt and soluble film for embroidery.

Many people have the idea that street photography means taking photos of people that are interesting, amusing, and sometimes embarrassing, without their knowledge. It is. It is also making photographs of your surroundings. As we walk the downtown streets, we will be looking for interesting photographs in ordinary scenes. We will learn to look for the play of light and reflections on a storefronts, the pattern made by an iron fence, or the remains of an out of season garden and capture it on our camera. This workshop will end in the classroom, however we will spend most of the time on a walk downtown.

Registration Guidelines

Classes and workshops are small, and space is limited. Students are encouraged to register at the earliest opportunity in the event a popular course fills quickly. Waiting until the last moment to register may also result in disappointment if a course is cancelled due to low enrollment. There is a 10% increase in tuition roughly one week before start date. Specific amounts and dates are indicated with each session.


Students may register online, by phone or in person. Registration opens for each session on different dates. Check Session Headings for details. CAM members enjoy discounted tuition.

Registration is complete and confirmed when payment is received and processed.

Refunds will not be issued for withdrawals from a class or workshop within 72 hours before start time. However, tuition (less 10%) will be transferred to student's choice of a future class or workshop. Students who withdraw within 24 hours of start time will receive credit for tuition less 50%.

No refunds or transfers will be given once the class has started.

Students who are not in attendance and have not been in touch with the Museum School office will be charged the full price of the class or workshop.

If class or workshop does not make minimum enrollment, it will be cancelled and enrolled students will receive their choice of 100% refund or transfer of tuition.
