Learn to paint a seashell in a sky of your choice. It can be a calm sky, a cloudy sky, or a brilliantly colored sky. Your seashell can hover over the ocean, where it once lived, or be in another venue that is important to you. You should keep your sky simple so that the shell is the dominant focal point. The purpose of this painting exercise is to explore what comes from your inner self. Everything that we choose to create has a deeper meaning than we realize once we allow ourselves that freedom.

‘Resilience’ Community Screening and Tour

We will again be starting class with mediations or readings to calm our minds and let our subconscious take over. Calming music may be played at the beginning of class. Then the class will be silent. Paints and brushes will be in the center of the room and each student will choose the color and the brush they would like to begin with. No paints will leave the table in cups. The student will go back and forth and let their intuition choose the color and brush to be used each time. No preconceived ideas. No attachment, no judgment, play, and inner visions are an integral part of this creative process. $10/supply fee

A two day workshop for fiber arts enthusiasts will cover natural plant dyes for plant cellulose fiber and protein fibers, and Indigo from seed to dye. Indigo vats to be created in the workshop include - green leaf with indigo from the instructor’s garden, fruit, henna and ferrous. Vats for other plant dyes will be created along with the mordant process. Expect to learn about scouring, water, pH, exhausting baths, overdye, shaped resist, storage, planting and harvesting, using dried indigo leaves, making indigo balls and cakes as well as seed saving and sharing, documentation and planning a dyers garden for planting Zones 1-8 for perennials and Zones 9-13 for annuals.

Learn the intaglio printmaking process of drypoint in this three day workshop. Developed in the late 15th century, drypoint is a technique in which drawing is scratched directly into a printing plate by using a pointed tool.
