Art Explorers - Crazy for Colors

Thursday, 8/12/2021
10:00AM-11:00AM
CAM Members: $3 per child; Non-Members: $6 per child
Adults and children 2 and under: free
Join Miss Bobbi and Miss Georgia as we explore colors inside and outside of the Cameron Art Museum. We will read "MIXED: A Colorful Story" by Arree Chung and "A Color of his Own" by Leo Lionni. We will see how many different colors we see inside the museum and on a nature walk around the grounds, then we will experiment with color mixing! We will squish different paints inside baggies to see what we create, and make symmetrical flower paintings with folded paper. Art Explorers is geared towards infants, toddler and preschoolers, but big brothers and sisters are welcome to join and create art with us.

F11 AND BE THERE

Thursday, 8/12/2021
5:30PM-9:00PM
Save the Date for a special screening of the film F11 AND BE THERE
CAM Members $15; Non-Members: $20; Students: $10

Special Q&A with Burk Uzzle and Director Jethro Waters following the film

F11 AND BE THERE (Jethro Waters / Waters Film LTD) won Best Documentary in the cultural category at the 2021 Midsouth Emmy® Awards. The film is a historical document, a non-linear pastiche of a life well lived, a musically driven homage to craft and artistic process, and a love letter to one man's life-long dedication to the idea of equality. Glenn Kenny for The New York Times writes, “The film is as beautifully composed as Uzzle’s pictures. The director Jethro Waters also shot the movie, a subtle feast of light and color. The animated sections illustrating Uzzle’s past, by Cable Hardin, consist of white lines drawn against a deep gray background, and work beautifully. The music by Natalie Prass and Eric Slick is propulsive.”

“Casket, Memphis” by Burk Uzzle is the latest acquisition by CAM Compass, a giving society dedicated to building Cameron Art Museum’s collection, and is now on view along with Uzzle’s “Dr. Alma Cobb Hobbs” as part of Cameron Art Museum’s “Structure In Bloom” exhibition

She has shown in numerous national exhibitions and was a recipient of the 2014 and 2017 North Carolina Regional Artists Grant. Snyder lives and works in Wilmington, North Carolina and serves on the board of the Cape Fear Camera Club.
